Huw Jenkins

Owner, Thornhill Plumbing & Heating

Huw Jenkins is a domestic plumber originally from South Wales, who recently relocated to the south coast of England to be closer to his young family's relatives.

Huw’s first plumbing job was at the age of 13, which involved spilling black sludge over a pristine white carpet while carrying a radiator that was far too heavy for him at the time. After initially pursuing an academic path, Huw decided to retrain as a commercial plumber, working under his brother Lloyd at Igneum Mechanical and alongside an outstanding team.

During his five-year apprenticeship, Huw gained experience working on commercial buildings across the UK, including projects in chemical plants, naval bases, and skyscrapers. In his final year, he worked in 200 different towns across the country before establishing his own business as a domestic plumber in the Cardiff suburb of Thornhill.

His commercial background and the high standards required in the field have served him well, and he has had the honor of representing his region multiple times in the Heating Installer Awards. Throughout his career, Huw has trained individuals from various backgrounds and skill levels, believing in the importance of passing down the knowledge he gained from his own mentors.

Currently, Huw is rebuilding his plumbing business from scratch in a new town and embracing the challenges that come with it. He has been a member of WaterSafe and is a current member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbers and Heating Engineers. Known for holding himself and others to high standards, Huw is also deeply interested in the discussion surrounding the potential registration or licensing of skilled trades.
